Finally, weigh-in day has arrived. My best friend Colleen took a day trip from Maine down to my place here in Massachusetts, which is only an hour and half away. She wanted to be here with me for moral support, and to be my official witness. I have to say that I am so incredibly lucky to have Colleen in my life. She is one of the most supportive individuals I know.
Of course, I was holding my breath the entire time, because the past three months have been beyond challenging, with so much on my plate, and with a close family member’s health issues.
I had not weighed myself the majority of the time, until last week, because I felt that checking the scale every day would be counterproductive. I still feel that way. As I expressed in one of my earlier column entries – it is not nor has it ever been about the numbers. For the sake of the Flaab.com protocol, I focused upon losing twenty pounds specifically, which is why I stepped upon the scale today. However, eating healthier, wearing clothing that I enjoy, and just feeling better was primary objective. Remember, your chronological age, clothing size, or number of pounds is not important, as long as you are a healthy and happy person, inside and out!
As I mentioned in my most recent post, I had hoped to exceed my goal, but the fact that I didn’t is not discouraging. It simply provides me with another goal to pursue, because I do not plan to change my eating habits. I have been feeling better, more energetic, and I enjoy the way my clothing fits. If I continue the way I am going, I will make even more progress. Of course, I am leaving the scale out of it this time, and I am just going to keep doing what I have been doing, because it works.
With that said, I would like to tell you what you have been waiting to hear – I have reached my twenty-pound weight loss objective by my goal date of April 1, 2009, and I am so glad to be able to share that with all of you. Therefore, my husband’s ex will not be receiving any money from me.
This has been quite an experience, because I am not a public person regarding my personal life. It was not easy for me to share the little bits and pieces of my life that I did, and while I do not plan to paint my overall personal life onto a public billboard any time soon, I am glad that I took this particular challenge. Not only did I meet my weight loss goal, but also, I made several new friends along my weight loss journey, through the Flaab.com site, and that was probably the most valuable part of the entire experience.
I congratulate everyone who has made it to his or her weight loss objective, and I wish the best to those who are still working on it.
Finally, I would like to extend a special thank you to E. Jean Carroll and Kenneth Shaw for creating this site, and for permitting me to participate. Flaab.com has been about more than weight loss plans, or bets – it has been about the kind of motivation that encourages camaraderie, provokes laughter and joy, and inspires hope. As far as I am concerned, hope is the nourishment that every human being needs in his or her life.
