Angel Logan's Write of Passage - Count to Ten

I believe that routine is a key element in weight loss plans.  Adhering to a consistent schedule, when eating, exercising, or sleeping, enables the body to react accordingly.  I have to say that it has been challenging for me recently, because routine has not been residing within my world.  I have faced a few challenging and stressful situations that have required my time and full attention. Unfortunately, these events have affected my eating, sleeping, and working times, which has slowed down my overall diet.

I started losing weight, but with everything on my plate (no pun intended), I have reached a flat terrain without any more weight loss or gain.  I have not been eating more and my desire for food has not increased, but this reinforces why it is so important to maintain a regular eating schedule.  Your body depends upon that timetable to handle digestion, fat-burning, rest, exercise – even simple walking and every day movements.

We take these areas of life for granted, presuming that if we do not stuff our faces with calories or high fat content, we will be safe.  However, that is not the case at all, and if we are trying to lose weight, constant changes tend to confuse the body, and it does not know how to react.  Thus, weight loss slows down and becomes dormant, until our bodies can find a steady pace to follow once again.

I knew that my eating and sleeping schedules were an issue when I began my weight loss plan, and were probably the biggest problems.  Again, I have not gained any weight, but my goal was not too big, and it is not that far away.

Difficult things happen in life – stressful and often painful events that we cannot control, throwing a monkey-wrench into our plans.  Instead of panicking or accepting defeat, we have to embrace our resolve, face our challenges, and rise to the occasion to prevail.

When life throws a curveball at me, I count to ten.  I know that sounds beyond simple, and to some extent – it is that simple.  While I am counting to ten, I am taking a deep breath, regrouping, and renewing my life’s plan, or in this case, my weight loss plan.  I know that I have reprioritize, and although I still have stresses and worries – I can still find a way to make it all work, if I maintain the determination to succeed.  I do not have any doubts, and neither should you.  So, if you are feeling overwhelmed by a few of life’s curveballs and you are not far away from your finish line, do what I do – count to ten, and get your second wind, to finish this weigh loss race with a victory!!

Until next time – NO DEFEAT … NO LIMITATIONS!
