Women who wear make-up – have you ever had days when your foundation suddenly felt different or did not look as smooth and natural on your face? I know that many of us have had that experience. Of course, cosmetic companies are notorious for changing areas of their lines or discontinuing our favorite products that we love and use every day. While that is a HUGE pet peeve of mine – it isn’t always the reason for cosmetic inconsistencies. Sometimes, our makeup feels different because the quality of our skin is different.
A perfect example would be the monthly pimple that many women get on their faces. As if we really need a blatant, literally in-your-face reminder that it is that time of the month again! My point is that during that time, our bodies experience significant changes, in chemical makeup and hormones. Consequently, those changes can often manifest into blemishes, dryness, or oily skin.
The same thing applies to our diets, and the foods that we consume. If we are eating foods high in sugar, sodium, or fat, it shows in our skin, especially our faces. We often brush off skins issues or acne, or simply apply the first medication off the shelf that we can find. Medication will provide a temporary solution to the problem, but if we are still eating foods that are unhealthy, the problem will most likely resurface.
Water may not make your skin moist, but if your organs and body are functioning properly because you have enough water in your system, then your skin’s condition will be better. Moisturizers, cleansers, and high quality makeup will definitely help, but the best way to maintain your skin is by maintaining your body.
My makeup looks and feels so much better when I am eating plenty of vegetables and drinking water daily. In fact, the monthly pimple I mentioned earlier has not made an appearance since I started my weight loss plan in December. I know it is because I am eating healthier foods and taking better care of myself. It seems that life’s theme begins with our core. When we can take care of what is happening within, physically, emotionally, and spiritually – the rest will fall into place.
Until next time – NO DEFEAT … NO LIMITATIONS!
