So...last week didn't go so hot (so to speak.) All of my wonderful ideas I had for myself to resist my comfort foods failed, though I did work out a lot more. I swear, sometimes it really is like an addiction. Once I start craving something, it's all I think about until I get it. And then I feel horrible afterwards because 1. it's shit anyway and bad for my body so I consequently feel like crap and 2. I feel like I failed because I gave in. I'm determined to make this week go well...and of course, I always tell myself that, but I really want this week to be different. I just have to figure out how to keep myself going. I just don't want my inclination to go to food for emotional comfort (or even just when I'm bored) to govern my life forever. Well...I'm going to have to "Just Say No!-to Oreos" :)
So, I've discovered that I can lose weight, I just always give in to my cravings and gain it back really fast...but not this time. Here I go...Day 0. My plan is to eat healthy (obviously) and vegan and my workouts will be yoga and cardio. I've found this to work in the past, but any other suggestions are always welcome!
Something else interesting...I've been reading this book by theDalai Lama (I know, it's not exactly weight loss but I have a point, I promise) and he talks a lot about 1. the difference between what we want and what we need and 2. the difference between pleasure and happiness. I've started asking myself two questions, "Will this bring me happiness?" and "Do I really need this?" He describes that a lot of the things that we believe we need, we really just want (such as that piece of chocolate cake.) If we only have what we need, then we will be happier and not cluttered with an endless list of desires. Also, there are a lot of things that bring us pleasure, but not happiness. That bowl of macaroni and cheese may taste good, but in the end it's not going to bring us any true happiness.
So, speaking of skinny bitches...I recommend to anyone trying to lose weight and get healthy to read Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin...it's quite hilarious and great for learning what to eat and why because a lot of the things we believe are good for us (take milk for an example) are laden with chemicals, antibiotics, hormones, etc. that cause a whole slew of medical maladies. Yes, our doctors have been telling us for years to drink our milk get plently of animal protein so they must be right, right? Wrong. Did you know most doctors have few hours actually dedicated to nutrition? Read this book, trust me, it's (literally) a life saver. Plus...it will save you from tons of foods that tend to cause 'fat pig syndrome.'
On a personal note, last night I did cardio for 30 minutes and this morning I had a banana and orange juice for breakfast and a salad and Wheat Thins for lunch...now I'm going to my lovely bf's house later so please, pray to the gods that I can resist the white bread devils (he's a huge pizza, macaroni and cheese, etc. type...but then again, no offense guys, but most college age men tend to be.) I'm also hoping to get some yoga in later.

about me: So, I've been trying for..well, forever...to lose just 15 or so pounds and for some reason or other (like looking great isn't motivation enough) won't lose it. I can lose weight...but then I break down and gain it all back. So if I don't lose 20 lbs I'm giving my money to KFC and will post a YouTube video of me doing a booty shake in my panties. haha. Other than that...I'm a college student studying English and Creative Writing. I love to write (obviously) and I also enjoy reading, travel, hanging out with my friends and loving boyfriend, animal rights and doing anything adventurous.
