day...does it really matter?
So it's time to come clean. I haven't been doing what I am supposed to be doing to lose weight. I've been pretty much stuck at a 3 pound weight loss for a couple of weeks now. I am being pretty lame to myself.
It's going to take a miracle to reach my goal of 20 lbs by 9.1.09. And that sucks. Especially because I could really use that $100 right about now. But, I am recommitting myself to doing what needs to be done to at least try to get halfway to that number.
I am going to be tracking my calories like a woman obsessed and make something happen!
day 15
and back to square one. Did I forget I was on a diet this past weekend?? Pretty much.
Starting over. Much ground to cover.
day 9
Successful work lunch = salad with grilled meats and NO BREAD. The salad even came in a taco shell (what!!?!? wasn't expecting that), which I quickly cast aside.
so. proud.
day 8
This weekend was tough. Lots of family and friends in town, lots of food-centered get-togethers...I made a lot of bad decisions.
Let's just say that as of this morning I'd gained back 2 of the 3 pounds I lost last week. I'm totally bummed about that, but am moving forward. No one forced all of that delicious food and drink down my pie hole but me.
This week I am going to be extra good in order to make up for this weekend. My husband and I have also challenged ourselves to not spend any money this week on food. We can only eat what we have in the house as well as whatever comes on Wednesday with our weekly fruit and veggie co-op delivery (which is pre-paid through the summer anyway).
This upcoming weekend is a holiday and we have more friends coming into town to celebrate. It's going to be a challenge, but my goal is to make smart choices and feel good about what I've done come Monday morning.
day 5
If you’re anything like me, you’re a giant booze hound.
I was born and raised in New Orleans, so basically, I was born with the ability to consume copious amounts of booze without much effect (other than blowing up to giant proportions). Drinking a bottle of wine is was pretty much an almost-nightly event. But did you know that a glass of wine (a 4 oz. glass of wine…which is about a ½ glass in my book) is about 100 calories!?! So if you are having a few “normal-sized” glasses you are consuming hundreds upon hundreds of calories. Crazy!!!!
My bartender friend had a brilliant idea: Spritzers. I never thought I’d be that woman, drinking white wine spritzers. But let me tell you something folks, they can be pretty darn tasty and just almost as satisfying! And I can have 2 or 3 at night and only be consuming a couple hundred calories. Personally, I’d rather cut out something else and be able to have a couple glasses of wine to end my day.
I basically just pour a couple ounces of wine into a glass and fill it up the rest of the way with sodium-free or low sodium club soda. My wine of choice for this right now is Woodbridge Sauvignon Blanc because I can get a giant bottle at the grocery for only about $12-$14 and it lasts me a few days.
Anyway, just thought I'd pass that along.
Cheers!
p.s. - I just wanted to clarify that I would never order a spritzer out in public. But I don't go out anymore because I have an 8-month-old "boss" at home.
day 4
I read somewhere last night that one needs to have a 500 calorie deficit each day in order to lose 1 pound per week. Can this be true!?!? Seems like a LOT of calories and the number is a bit arbitrary since everyone has a different metabolism and whatnot.
But it does kind of put things into perspective for me.
day 3
"High performance. That's what I want.", said the crazy lady as she took the seat across from me on the train this morning.
My fat ass couldn't agree more, lady.
Mid-week weight check-in: down a 1/2 pound! Only 1.5 to go by Sunday! : /
day 2
People - stop looking at me funny. I am not THAT fat. Just all sorts of chubbed out.
Today is the second day of the rest of my oh-so-thin and fabulous life.
day 1
christ. blt's and salad for dinner. could be worse I guess. and I rejected the ice cream my husband wanted to get earlier today as well as the chocolate chip cookies calling me name at the grocery store tonight. woo hoo!
